Tensile testing

Tensile Testing

Tensile testing is a fundamental test for materials scientists and engineers. Tensile testing is a destructive test method in which a material is stretched in a controlled manner until failure occurs. Several properties are directly measured during the test and these can be used to calculate other properties such as Youngs Modulus and Poisson ratio.

Luma laboratories conduct tensile testing in accordance with BS EN ISO 527-2:2012 to assist clients with;

  • Demonstrating proof of concept for new products.
  • Selecting materials for engineering applications.
  • Comparing properties of different materials.
  • Predicting how a material will perform under different forces.
