Shear strength testing

Lap Shear Testing

Shear strength is the ability of a material to resist sliding failure when subject to a force that acts in a direction that is parallel to the surface of the material. Lap shear testing is a common type of testing that is carried out on adhesive joints. Shear strength data is usually reported in MPa or psi based on the bonded area. Shear testing data can be used for quality assurance, R&D and for structural design and analysis.

Luma laboratories conduct shear strength testing of single lap adhesive joints in accordance with BS ISO 4587:2003.
