Flexural testing is a mechanical testing method for evaluating the behaviour of a material when subject to bending forces. A three-point flexure test is the most common type of flexural testing. In this test a sample is supported on its two outer edges and a load is applied to the centre point of the sample which causes the sample to bend. Flexural testing is primarily conducted to determine the flexural modulus and flexural strength of a material. Engineers use this data to determine the ability of materials to withstand specific loads and deformations which is crucial for designing and analysing all kinds of structures.
